About
Charlie Payne is a skilled fine finish woodworker and custom carpenter. He has primarily worked in Short Hills, Millburn, Summit, Cranford, Westfield and the surrounding towns, and his projects range from interior finish trim to large scale custom carpentry installations.

Prior to forming Payne Carpentry, Charlie held a number of positions on a variety of projects. He partnered with a respected general contractor to complete a full remodel of a home in Short Hills. He also oversaw and worked on carpentry related jobs for a well-known summer camp in New Hampshire. This range of experiences has contributed greatly to Charlie's general industry knowledge, providing him with insight into areas such as plumbing, electric, landscaping, tiling, appliance installation, and general seasonal maintenance. This knowledge has proven invaluable for Charlie, as he has developed a comprehensive grasp of all steps that go into the construction and maintenance process of a home.

Charlie's attention to detail, creativity, and vast general knowledge about design and construction set him apart from others in the industry. His designs give weight to both form and function, striking a balance between the clients' needs and Charlie's own professional knowledge and artistic eye. Charlie takes immense pride in going above and beyond his clients' expectations.

When he is not working, Charlie enjoys building Lego, rock climbing, snowboarding, and spending time with his family both in England and New Jersey. He resides in Cranford with his wife, two daughters, and dog.
